We use the information we collect primarily to provide and improve our services:

• To generate customized severance negotiation letters based on your inputs.
• To send you the final product and related transactional emails.
• To process your payments and prevent fraudulent transactions.

Note on AI Processing: Your specific inputs (such as names and employment facts) are sent to our AI service provider (Anthropic) solely for the purpose of generating your letter. Our commercial API agreements ensure your data is never used to train their AI models.

4. Data Retention and Security (Passwordless Architecture)

To protect your highly sensitive legal information, SeveranceLetter.ca is built on a secure, passwordless architecture. When you generate a letter, a secure backup of your document and negotiation history is saved to our database, locked behind a cryptographically unique token. We send this token directly to your email as a "Magic Link" to allow you to securely access your dashboard at any time across devices.

For your privacy, we automatically and permanently delete all user data, documents, and backups from our servers after 45 days. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers; all payment processing is handled securely by Stripe.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to save your active workspace state to provide a fast, seamless experience without requiring constant server connections. We do not use third-party marketing, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. We only share information with Service Providers strictly necessary to operate the application, including:

• Payment Processors: Stripe, for secure transaction processing.
• Infrastructure Providers: Cloudflare/Vercel, for edge hosting of the application code.
• AI Processors: Anthropic, strictly for generating your letter (with zero data retention for training).

These service providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
